But sometimes, there are issues with that data which can affect the accuracy of your reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help, we\u2019ve enhanced our suite of data cleaning tools, giving you greater control over the data you import into ChartMogul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#data-cleaning-chartmogul\">How data cleaning works in ChartMogul<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out the other data cleaning features in ChartMogul:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#merging-customers\">Merging customers<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#MRR-editing\">MRR editing<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#Connecting-subscriptions\">Connecting subscriptions<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#Adding-subscriptions-manually\">Adding subscriptions manually<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"data-cleaning-chartmogul\"><strong>How data cleaning works in ChartMogul<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/help.chartmogul.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/16670527715100\">easily make edits<\/a> directly in ChartMogul. All imported billing and subscription data \u2014 like invoices, line items, transactions and subscription events \u2014 can be edited. This applies to data from Stripe, Chargebee and Recurly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users with Owner, Admin or Staff roles can make changes, and each edit is logged with the date, time and author details. Edits are reversible, too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any changes you make are stored separately from the original billing data, so even if the source is resynced or billing data is reimported, your edits will still be applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/data-cleaning.gif\" alt=\"data cleaning\" class=\"wp-image-22094\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Data cleaning is useful when a charge in your billing system is mistakenly categorized as non-recurring. This typically occurs when you\u2019re offering custom pricing for a specific customer or when manually adjusting a customer\u2019s subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When these one-time charge invoices are imported into ChartMogul, they won\u2019t contribute to your recurring revenue as ChartMogul interprets it as non-recurring from your billing platform.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that you can now easily correct this in ChartMogul. Simply change the line item type to \u201crecurring\u201d and add the necessary subscription information&nbsp; and ChartMogul will treat that revenue as recurring.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>There are four other ways you can correct data in ChartMogul.<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>Together, this suite of data cleaning tools puts you in control, ensuring your team keeps accurate SaaS metrics in ChartMogul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"merging-customers\"><strong>Merging customers<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Duplicate records cause a lot of confusion, but can be common when importing data from multiple sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In ChartMogul, you\u2019ll be importing customer and subscription data from a range of sources. For example, from Stripe where you manage billing, and from Hubspot where you handle leads and customer communication. When you have many data sources, you may end up in scenarios where a single customer or lead is imported multiple times, resulting in duplicate records in ChartMogul.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One way to prevent this is via the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.chartmogul.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/13705053532572-Automations#merging-duplicate-customers\">merge customer automation<\/a>. Once created, it will instantly start organizing your customer records in ChartMogul, combining data from duplicates into one complete profile with all data points in one place. If it\u2019s incorrect, it should be fixed right away to keep your SaaS metrics accurate. Inaccurate MRR can happen if data in your billing system isn\u2019t in a state to allow ChartMogul to accurately generate an MRR history.<br>Good news&nbsp;\u2014\u2013&nbsp;ChartMogul allows you to <a href=\"https:\/\/help.chartmogul.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/115005750705-MRR-data-editing#editing-mrr\">edit MRR data<\/a> to ensure it\u2019s correct historically. MRR edits are highlighted, with a note of the change made, the date and which user made the edit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"464\" src=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hover-over-change-optimized.gif\" alt=\"MRR editing\" class=\"wp-image-22096\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Connecting-subscriptions\"><strong>Connecting subscriptions<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Gaps in a customer\u2019s subscription history can occur if you manually cancel and re-subscribe a customer (e.g., in order to alter some terms of their subscription), or when you migrate a customer (or all your customers) from one billing system to another. In both scenarios, you\u2019ll see either a gap or overlap in their ChartMogul subscription history.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these situations, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/help.chartmogul.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/115005750705-MRR-data-editing#connecting-subscriptions\">connect the customer\u2019s two subscriptions<\/a> to report this as a single ChartMogul, when for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Some customers are invoiced outside a connected billing system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re importing old subscription data where you don\u2019t have associated invoices available to import.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.chartmogul.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/202854061-Manual-subscriptions\">Manual subscriptions<\/a> are treated like any other subscription in ChartMogul, and feed into your SaaS metrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
