Our customers are already using automations for lead assignment and auto-merging duplicate records\u2014small changes that make a big difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And we\u2019re excited to introduce some major improvements!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First up: a new trigger and a new action.<\/strong> You can now launch an automation when a subscription is set to be canceled. Plus, you can auto-create tasks for any automation, keeping your team one step ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These updates highlight what makes ChartMogul so powerful\u2014not just for Subscription Analytics, but for as a CRM workflow tool. By combining billing data with automation, your team can <a href=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/saas-metrics\/customer-churn\/#how-to-stop-churn\">proactively tackle churn<\/a> and maybe even turn things around before it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s dive into what&#8217;s new + three new automations we\u2019ve set up in our own ChartMogul account:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#create-a-task\">Create a task when churn is scheduled<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#auto-unqualify\">Auto-unqualify when reason present<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#poor-fit\">Auto-unqualify something easily identifiable as poor-fit<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our latest updates to automations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve released three improvements to make building and managing automations a lot easier for you and the team:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Set the order of when automations run. <\/strong>This allows you to set the priority for workflows that have an order dependency.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"173\" src=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/426eab72-4ad9-47e1-b392-fec8900698b9-_1-1.gif\" alt=\"Decide the order of automations in ChartMogul\" class=\"wp-image-22348\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Decide how many duplicate records can be merged into one at a time. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>We\u2019ve added more detail to the activity timeline<\/strong> on the customer profile so you can see the impact and source of changes made via merge automations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"create-a-task\"><strong>Automation #1: Create a task when churn is scheduled<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A new automation trigger is now available in your ChartMogul account: &#8220;Customer scheduled to cancel.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine it\u2019s Monday morning. Over the course of the weekend, one of your largest, most strategic accounts scheduled their cancellation of your SaaS product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this automation configured, ChartMogul will now auto-create a task so that you can follow up and figure out what\u2019s going on. You or your team can now use email templates to reach out and try and retain the account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p class=\"video-container\"><youtube-video videoid=\"JvSvMI__UdY\"><\/youtube-video><\/p>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"auto-unqualify\"><strong>Automation #2: Auto-unqualify leads when reason present<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all leads convert to qualified opportunities. In ChartMogul CRM, you can status a customer \u2018Unqualified Lead\u2019 when they are no longer worth pursuing. But perhaps you want to capture why they\u2019re no longer worth pursuing by adding a picklist attribute of \u2018unqualified reasons.\u2019 This, though, is a lot of clicks for a user.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s set up an automation to reduce time spent editing fields in the CRM while still capturing clean data that we can use to analyze trends later on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p class=\"video-container\"><youtube-video videoid=\"Eey5rqj-Yz8\"><\/youtube-video><\/p>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In case it\u2019s helpful, here\u2019s what our unqualified attribute picklist looks like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Already a customer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bad contact data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Competitor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Duplicate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free plan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In-house solution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Missing key feature<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No influence or authority<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Partner test account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sales will not work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff test account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Timing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unwilling to pay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"poor-fit\"><strong>Automation #3: Auto-unqualify something easily identifiable as poor-fit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have inbound leads or trials? Are some of them easily identifiable as poor-fit customers? Or candidates or competitors or even just fake signups for internal testing? If so, this automation is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Start by figuring out how you can systematically identify these poor-fit leads. Maybe there\u2019s a domain, a naming convention, or custom attribute.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cA huge part of the world of automation is understanding what you would do as a human being and decomposing or building it into a flow chart which you can then onboard into a system\u201d <br>\u2014Tom Andrews, VP Tech &amp; Ops @ Pavilion<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Create a new automation that runs on lead creation. Then set the conditions to identify only those leads that meet the aforementioned criteria. Finally, set the action to auto-disqualify the leads that you know aren\u2019t worth working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can set up multiple automations.
