For example,\u00a0you\u00a0might have a customer paying by credit card using\u00a0Stripe, who then\u00a0moves\u00a0to manual invoicing with wire transfer for payment. This bulk migration could be from\u00a0an in-house billing system onto a cloud-based system such Stripe,\u00a0or even off Stripe and onto another system, such as\u00a0Recurly or Chargify.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full-column wp-image-5370\" src=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-menuitem-720x272.png\" alt=\"merge-menuitem\" width=\"720\" height=\"272\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-menuitem-720x272.png 720w, https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-menuitem-300x113.png 300w, https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-menuitem-768x290.png 768w, https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-menuitem-1024x386.png 1024w, https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-menuitem.png 1280w, https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-menuitem-300x113@2x.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Previously\u00a0in ChartMogul, this migration would have been reported as\u00a0100% churn of all customers relating to the initial\u00a0data source and an equal number\u00a0of new customers appearing as &#8220;new business&#8221; on the new data source.<\/p>\n<p>Now\u00a0there&#8217;s also a Merge Customers\u00a0API endpoint in ChartMogul, so it&#8217;s easy to combine\u00a0customer records even if you migrate your <em>entire<\/em> customer base from one billing system to another.\u00a0You can keep smooth graphs in ChartMogul and\u00a0maintain accurate\u00a0reporting even through a major billing migration.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Merge Customers in ChartMogul<\/h3>\n<p>You can merge customers in the UI or using the new <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.chartmogul.com\/docs\/merging-customers-using-the-api\">Merge Customers API endpoint<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-customers-animation-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19668 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/chartmogul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/merge-customers-animation-1.gif\" alt=\"Merge Customers in ChartMogul\" width=\"912\" height=\"442\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Consolidating your customer records<\/h3>\n<p>There are more use cases than those described above. I\u00a0was recently talking with a customer whose business\u00a0has\u00a0three different product lines, each one using different billing systems. Some of their customers purchase multiple different products and therefore those customers&#8217;\u00a0billing data is distributed across three different systems. Thus far one customer would appear as three separate customers in ChartMogul. With Merge Customers,\u00a0it&#8217;s now possible to report on this customer as a single entity. If separate reporting is needed to analyze\u00a0each product line, that&#8217;s still possible by filtering for plan or data source.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Merge Customers feature is available
