What you get from your Google Play data
ChartMogul reads your Google Play subscriptions and calculates your subscription metrics from them: MRR, ARR, churn, LTV, and every subscriber's MRR movements. You can segment revenue by plan, country, or cohort, save reports, and send scheduled updates to email or Slack.
How it works
There are two ways to connect.
Daily Sales Report. No code needed. ChartMogul reads Google Play's sales reports from Google Cloud Storage and imports your history back to February 2012. It only imports trials that convert to paid.
Payloads URL. You send ChartMogul the purchase tokens for your subscriptions, and it fetches each one from the Google Play Developer API. This needs code on your side, and adds customer metadata as custom attributes, plus lead and trial dates. Subscriptions that expired more than 60 days ago can't be retrieved this way.
Both methods use a Google Cloud service account that you invite in Play Console, and both sync once a day. You need to be an Admin in ChartMogul and the account owner in Play Console.
What ChartMogul imports
- Customers, subscriptions, and transactions for in-app subscriptions
- With the Payloads URL: customer metadata as custom attributes, and lead and trial dates
Before you connect
- It covers in-app subscriptions. One-time purchases and consumables aren't supported.
- Each app (package name) is a separate source.
- You need to be the account owner in Play Console, and new service account permissions can take up to 36 hours to take effect in Google Play.
The Google Play integration guide explains how ChartMogul handles taxes, introductory prices, and grace periods with each connection method.
Setting it up
- Choose a connection method.
- Find your app's package name in Play Console.
- Create a Google Cloud service account and a JSON key for it.
- Invite the service account in Play Console with financial permissions.
- For the Daily Sales Report, find your Cloud Storage bucket ID.
- In ChartMogul, add Google Play as a source and import your data.
The Google Play integration guide walks through each step, including the Google Cloud APIs to enable.
