How do ChartMogul and Fincome handle messy billing data?
Both let you correct billing data by hand, connect subscriptions, and merge customers. ChartMogul adds automatic duplicate detection, rules for past-due subscriptions, and more control over when MRR is reported.
Data settings. Both let you choose when churn is recognized. ChartMogul also lets you choose whether past-due subscriptions auto-churn and after how many days, whether MRR is reported when an invoice is issued, partially paid, or fully paid, and whether voided, refunded, and written-off invoices are excluded. Fincome publishes no setting for past-due subscriptions, and adds an option to treat a temporary zero-MRR invoice as contraction rather than churn.
Data editing. Both let you correct invoice lines and connect subscriptions across gaps and overlaps, and in both, a manual edit survives the next sync. To remove a test or internal customer, Fincome's guidance is to set its invoice line amounts to zero. ChartMogul lets you disable invoices and transactions directly or adjust a subscription's MRR, and records an update history on every change.
Duplicate customers. Fincome merges customers manually: you open a record, pick the customer to merge it into, and Fincome decides which record is kept. ChartMogul detects duplicates automatically on company name, domain, external ID, email, primary contact email, or custom attributes, including one field against another, and merges them manually, through the API, or by automation. For a business that creates duplicates every week, that is the difference between a rule and a chore.
Sync frequency. Fincome's help center describes billing changes arriving at the following night's synchronization. ChartMogul syncs most integrations in near real time, so a fix in your billing system shows up the same day.
How do ChartMogul and Fincome reports compare?
Both cover MRR, ARR, NRR, churn, and cohorts, and both let you click a figure to see what makes it up. ChartMogul goes further on cohorts, while Fincome adds shareable, branded reports.
Cohorts. Fincome builds monthly, quarterly, or annual cohorts grouped by subscription start date, and its documentation notes that cohorts can't be created by segment, product, or plan. ChartMogul has eight cohort reports at daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual granularity, filtered by plan, region, or your own custom attributes, and clicking any cell lists the customers behind it.
Drill-down. In Fincome, most charts and tables open an underlying view listing the customers, invoice lines, and subscriptions behind a figure. ChartMogul does the same across its charts and cohort cells, so both tools let you trace a number back to accounts.
Forecasts and reports. Both forecast MRR with scenarios, and Fincome's Forecast section is in beta. Fincome's custom reports can be styled in your company's colors and shared, while ChartMogul leaves board formatting to your own deck.
Where can you send ChartMogul and Fincome data?
Fincome sends data out as files, spreadsheets, and API calls. ChartMogul syncs calculated metrics to your data warehouse and HubSpot on a schedule.
Data warehouses. ChartMogul syncs to Snowflake, BigQuery, and Redshift, plus Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, and Google Cloud Storage, on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule. It sends calculated data, such as MRR and CMRR movements, and normalized source data, including invoices, transactions, subscription events, plans, and customers with their attributes. Fincome's Export center delivers CSV files by email, and data also leaves through chart downloads, Google Sheets, and its API, with no published warehouse destination.
HubSpot. Fincome imports HubSpot company properties to enrich its analytical dimensions, and publishes no writeback. ChartMogul imports HubSpot companies and contacts hourly for segmentation, matches on company name, domain, external ID, email, or any custom property, and writes cleaned metrics back to the matching HubSpot company record daily.
MCP. Both run a remote MCP server with OAuth, and both are listed in Claude's connector directory. Fincome's exposes KPIs and detailed views, such as MRR by customer and ARR movements, with raw billing objects not yet available. ChartMogul's is also listed in ChatGPT's app directory, with more than 80 read-only tools covering metrics along with customers, invoices, and subscriptions.
How do the AI features in ChartMogul and Fincome compare?
Fincome's AI agent works through its MCP server: you ask questions in Claude, Cursor, or another MCP assistant, and it fetches your Fincome figures. ChartMogul AI answers open-ended questions about your revenue in the app, drawing on billing data, HubSpot properties, connected email, and product activity. ChartMogul AI can also build a chart from a description, or analyze an uploaded file alongside your subscription data, and ChartMogul's MCP server brings the same data to Claude and ChatGPT.
ChartMogul connects a mailbox over Gmail, Outlook, or IMAP and logs customer correspondence against the right account, and ChartMogul.js records when each user was last seen in your app. So when you ask which customers are at risk, the answer weighs each customer's MRR trend alongside what they've been saying and whether their team is still logging in.
How do you switch from Fincome to ChartMogul?
Connect your billing system, and ChartMogul imports its full history, so your MRR timeline reaches back to the first invoice.
To confirm the numbers line up, compare Fincome's MRR by customer by month export with ChartMogul's MRR per customer per month export. Expect some differences, usually from churn recognition settings, zero-MRR handling, and manual edits or merges made in Fincome that need repeating in ChartMogul. The ChartMogul team will help identify and explain any discrepancies.
What does Fincome offer that ChartMogul doesn't?
A few specific features. Parent and child hierarchies roll metrics up from subsidiaries to a parent company, custom reports and board packs can be styled in your colors and shared with investors, and Fincome covers revenue recognition and deferred revenue. It also connects natively to European billing and accounting tools such as Pennylane and Sellsy. Both host data in the EU. On security, Fincome is SOC 2 Type I certified and its hosting partners meet ISO 27001, while ChartMogul holds a SOC 2 Type II report.
None of that changes what the metrics are built on. Fincome merges duplicate customers by hand, one record at a time, publishes no setting for past-due subscriptions, syncs billing data overnight, and can't build cohorts by segment, product, or plan.
How does ChartMogul pricing compare to Fincome?
Fincome no longer publishes pricing on its website and lists no free trial or free version, so ask for a quote at your current ARR. ChartMogul starts with a 14-day trial, has a free plan for smaller companies, and offers monthly or annual billing on paid plans. See ChartMogul pricing for the current plans.
